We Meet the Teachers
Tuesday, August 29th, 2006The three of us took a bit of time this morning to acquaint AspieBoy with his new school and classroom. One (of many) pluses is that his new school was built on the identical floor plan to last year’s school, so we had that familiarity going for us.
AspieMom and I came away feeling really positive about both the teacher and the aide. Both seemed very present and aware (I’m not sure if that makes sense) unlike AspieBoy’s Teacher’s aide from last year. His previous teacher was excellent, the aide — not so much.
The aide he will have this year — WOW! She suggested we visit the shaded (yea!) playground area outside and was casually assessing his motor skills and language as we were talking so she had an idea of what to expect tomorrow. She was using professional terms and assessment criteria, too. Not just a warm body! YEA!
It really made us feel good about leaving our (not so) little boy with the two of them for several hours a day.
Whew!
